This game had a good impact on the Next Gen consoles with this being one of the first games released on the Xbox one. It was one of the first games where we witnessed the new power of the consoles and what kind of graphics we could expect to see to come soon.
This game was the first to be set in Rome for a long time with also adding in an arena mode for online or single battle which again had either never been seen before or has not been seen in a game for a long time which again added to it's unique appeal. Many of the people who brought the game where mostly pleased and left speechless by the type of game RYSE was and especially because it was the first of its kind released in a long time it quickly became poplar with people who enjoyed history as well as Roman culture too.
This is a hack and slash type game and did cause a little stir with the executions in the game but this is part of the game and adds to the realism. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4R_8qDHl62Y This is a video showing all of the executions in the game and how to perform them. There is also another mode that is useful to gain experience points as well as practice at performing executions. The arena mode is very realistic to being a gladiator and this is something that hasn't been done in a long time or never before in a game so this was something I found really interesting and loved watching gameplay of it as well as playing it myself.
The Twitter post, which has been removed, said, “By the time #Ryse ships for #XboxOne, we will have served the crunching team more than 11,500 dinners throughout development. #RyseFacts.”
Crunching is an industry term for long overtime hours for development teams working to meet deadlines, and has been met with furor on the Twitter-sphere.
Ben Kuchera, who operates the Penny Arcade Report, chastised Crytek for the remarks about crunching.
“AAA development is brutal, and you rarely see your family. We advertise this like it's impressive! #rysefacts,” Kuchera said, adding the same hash tag.
Others have taken to using the #RyseFacts hash tag to express disgust with the game’s labor policies.
One poster wrote, “You Know what people want to hear about from #RyseFacts? Human suffering from the dev team.”
Another pointed the finger at Crytek for its mismanagement leading to the long hours and harsh deadlines for the Ryse: Son of Rome development team." http://www.examiner.com/article/controversy-over-xbox-one-exclusive-ryse-son-of-rome-tweet-about-crunching
"A Federal Trade Commission investigation uncovered an undisclosed paid endorsement deal between Microsoft Studios and Machinima Inc. Microsoft Studios paid for fake organic reviews, and bound Machinima Inc. to “not portray [Microsoft], the Xbox One, or the Launch Titles in a negative manner”. Ryse: Son of Rome was specifically listed in the FTC document as being one of the titles to receive fake reviews, and price quotes for these reviews range between $15,000 and $30,000". This shows that there is more controversy over this game than first thought, I personally thought this was a good game but it looks like
many would agree but for a select few they would of thought that the new game didn't meet the standards they were personally expected and so many of the views/buys for the game went down due to the look and peoples opinions which matched to some of the controversial elements which could have harmed it.
