Procedure and documentation Assignment

 Procedure:

Identify finance available – See what type of financial help you will be receiving whilst making the game and see if this will be able to help you make a better game because you have more money and so this will depend on how well the game art and graphics will look. Identify personnel needed and whether they are available – To make the game you would need lots of staff for certain departments like graphics and then you’d need people for the concept art which would be important because the more people you have and the more experienced then this could decide if the game turns out good or not. Identify resources available and book where necessary – You would need to check if you had the correct and up to date software and this would decide if you are able to use it and make sure it has the best graphics that it can and so it is very important to make sure that you have the correct software in order to work. Prepare budget – It will be important to make sure you do not go over budget otherwise this could lead to you and your company having to sell the game due to you not being able to finish the game and then that could lead to the company going into administration and so that is why it is very important to make sure that you look after the money well and do not over spend otherwise you may experience bad consequences. Contract personnel – It is important that you have contracted the right people for the job and that they will do the job correctly otherwise it could lead to mistakes being made which would be bad the company because it would cost more to then have to go back and then complete it again and make sure all bugs have been completely been eradicated. Also it is important to get the right people for the job like the voice actors or this could lead to people not liking the game because it won’t feel right. Prepare schedule – you will have to make sure that all of the proceedings are kept on time otherwise it could mean that you fall behind and could possibly miss the deadline due to the game not being kept on time so it can be very important to keep to schedules or to even have one done just for the game so everything can be kept on time. Identify any Health and Safety concerns – it will be important to make sure that you have the correct health and safety measures in place otherwise this could lead to staff pressing legal action against you and possibly cost you millions of pounds and so this could mean that your company will lose out on making a better game due to the lack of health and safety. Identify legal aspects – this can include music which is copyright and can lead to costing you money as well as having the correct rating so the right audience plays the game. There are other ways in which you have to watch legal action and that is workers which has already been covered. Identify any other risks to your project – You may have to watch that people do not copy your game and claim that they did it first.

Documentation:

Production – Script, storyboard, mood board, production schedule,- You would need to make sure that you have completed the steps in order to find the correct character and design layout and this is achieved by having multiple ideas and appearances which will eventually find out what the character will look like after choosing the one after being developed.

Budget - You will need to make sure you have the right amount of finance to be able to complete your game and make it have the up to date graphics and make it a top game as well as having to pay other essentials like staff so that you can make it quicker with different departments. You would also need to pay for advertisements for the TV which are very expensive as well as needing people to help design the graphics for the adverts and posters to make it more well known for people to learn and discover the game if they had not seen or heard about it then it could potentially bring in more revenue if it has a successful advertising campaign. You would also need to bring in certain people who can design a front cover/case for the game which would is necessary for the game so people can be aware of what type of game it is and also the rating so people know what it will contain. You would also have to give the publishers a percentage of the profit made by the game.

Clearances - This is used for copyright purposes so you can avoid having to pay fines or court so it can save time and money by having the correct clearance to have the music or images in your game.

Plans – plans are important because it shows that you can target specific areas to complete first and so it makes completing the game easier due to the fact that you have divided the game into sections so this will take less time. Also plans are useful so you do not lose or miss deadlines.

H&S assessment / Risk assessment - It is important that you have the correct assessments for safety in place because it can end up being very costly if you do not follow the rules for health and safety due to staff being able to sue if you do not follow the rules on health and safety and the risk assessments like not having food and drink next to equipment because it could lead to it being broken and un-useable and also making sure there are no wires sticking out that could lead up to people possibly tripping over the wires and could possibly get hurt.

Contingency plan – Contingency plan is used for backups in case your information is lost or corrupted and so if you have backups you can just simply re open it from your back up which will make it a lot easier to continue in your work if you have multiple backups by having it saved on a different document or emailing yourself and even using a memory stick so you will not lose it because you have several copies.

For Wayne's game I would use budget which would give me an idea of how much I could use like equipment such as top of the range computers and software which would be able to produce the best game for Wayne so that's why it is important so you know what areas will consume the most amount of money. Clearance would be used so I can use music that is copyrighted or imagery that is copyrighted and if I was to use this without permission then I could receive a fine or even go to court which would mean that the company that I work for or myself would be in trouble which would effect the amount of money that would be used for the game because money would have had to been used to pay off the money or the court fees due to the copyright which is why it is important to get clearance to use certain imagery or music. It can be important to have plans/dates that you can follow so you know if you are on time in meeting your deadline or if you need to hurry production to meet the deadline. Health & Safety/risk assessments are important while making your game so that injury will not occur to you or your members of staff and so this is important to make sure that you follow out the correct procedure so that the staff and yourself will be protected from accident. Health and safety checks will usually be a check list where the person will tick or cross off the  appropriate box to see whether or not it follows the health and safety rules so that it will keep your staff safe from any accidents.

Week 4 – By the end of week 4 I hope to have finished at least 5 of the rooms for my maths game and I would like to have found the suitable music that will be in my game as well as sound effects.

Week 5 – By the end of week 5 I hope to have finished all the rooms and then add the music into the games as well as the appropriate sounds in the game.

Week 6 – By the end of week 6 I hope to test the game for faults and then make the correct adjustments to it and then let other people test the game and see what they think about it.

Have signs that say not to bring food & drink near the equipment.

Make sure all wires and chairs are tucked away so tripping is minimized.
Electrocution
You would make sure that all the plugs have been pack tested and this is a good way to make sure no one has an accident.

Electrocution safety -

Budget - £1000 and this would be used for buying the resources such as voice actors and musicians to perform live. It would also be used for art styles e.g. covers.

Contingency Plan- It is important to have backups of what you are trying to do such as putting your work on a hard drive or saving multiple copies.

Contingency Plan
  What could go wrong
  Solutions

Lose all of your work
Back it up to several devices like a USB and even have multiple saves on word or any other programme.

Not meeting deadlines/behind
You could get into trouble from the publishers if you do not meet the deadlines so if you have been ill or broken an arm so you are unable to programme then this could be in the contract.

Clearances – Needing clearness for copyrighted music and images so you do not have to go to court or worse for breeching copyright laws. Otherwise if you have the correct clearance then it will be fine so it can be important that the clearance is sorted out.
